NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

One person was killed and two others seriously injured following an early morning accident at a gas well site near Chireno Thursday morning.

According to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss, the accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. Thursday at a well site off of County Road 445.

Kerss says it appears an end cap came off of a high pressure pumping rig designed to pump saltwater. The cap struck and killed one person and injured two others.

One victim, Jeremiah Keith Neeley, of Kilgore, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported to a Nacogdoches hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities say the site typically supplies water for fracking.

The identities of the hospitalized victims have not been released at this time. The accident is still under investigation.
