HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities have made another arrest in connection with dozens of vehicle burglaries in the Hammond area over the last couple of weeks.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said James Keys, 19, of Hammond was caught at a bus station in Baton Rouge trying to flee the state.

Detectives said their investigation pointed to Keys as being involved in more than 70 car break-ins.

Deputies said the Baton Rouge Police Department assisted in apprehending Keys at the Greyhound bus station.

They said he was trying to go to Indiana.

Keys was detained on two outstanding warrants from TPSO and BRPD charged him with possession of marijuana.

Deputies said he faces about 74 counts of burglary.

Investigators said they were able to recover some of the stolen items from the burglaries.

Benjamin White, also known as "BJ," 30, of Hammond was arrested earlier in the week in the string of break-ins.

He faces more than 75 counts of burglary for his admitted participation in the crimes.

Officials said there could be additional charges and arrests in this investigation.
