Homeless community gets relief from heat, hot meal

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The homeless in Baton Rouge got a little extra help from the heat in the form of a hot meal on Monday.

"This is a blessing. I'm going through a situation right now and to be honest with you I didn't know where my next meal would come from," said Joanna Vessell.
Vessell is among the hundreds who received a meal courtesy of Sisters with a Vision Social club.
The group teamed up with local businesses and St. Vincent DePaul to provide the meal Monday and give away 400 bags. The bags contained various hygiene items meant to make life on the streets a little easier.
"Its a blessing sir," Vessell said with a smile.
