Parent center opening for Recovery School District schools

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Recovery School District will be opening a center at Lanier Elementary to provide services for families with students at the RSD's seven Baton Rouge schools.

Staff at the center will be available to help families during the enrollment process and to answer questions related to the schools.

Visitors will have access to computer services, as well as financial literacy and computer training classes.

The RSD Parent Center will be open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Parents will also have an opportunity to meet the principals who will lead the Achievement Zone schools this fall during scheduled "Meet the Principal" events that will be held throughout the month of June and early July.

The scheduled meetings are as follows:

  • Thursday, June 21, 5 p.m. - Prescott Middle School, Living Faith Family Center, 6375 Winbourne Ave., Maria DeLouise, principal
  • Thursday, June 21, 6 p.m. - Istrouma High School, Living Faith Family Center, 6375 Winbourne Ave., Robert Webb, principal
  • Monday, June 25, 6 p.m. - Dalton Elementary School, Rose Hill Baptist Church, 3765 N. Acadian Thwy., Marilyn Taylor, principal
  • Monday, June 25, 6 p.m. - Glen Oaks Middle School, S.E. Mackey Center, 6534 Ford St., Staughton Jennings, principal
  • Tuesday, June 26, 6 p.m. - Lanier Elementary School, Gloryland Baptist Church, 2575 Michelli Dr., Alicia Franklin, principal
  • Thursday, June 28, 6 p.m. - Capitol High School, 1000 N. 23rd St.
  • Tuesday, July 3, 6 p.m. - Crestworth Learning Academy, 10650 Ave. F
