LAPLACE, LA (WAFB) -
A portion
of I-10 was shut down for several hours Sunday because of a man with a gun
threatening suicide.
It happened
on I-10 on the Bonnet Carre Spillway. The incident began around 6 p.m. Both
directions of I-10 were closed while negotiators tried to talk the man down.
The
Louisiana State Police said the man jumped off the bridge, but was met by
rescue boats and was taken to the hospital.
His
condition is unknown and his name was not released.
I-10 East
was reopened around 10 p.m.
Traffic on
I-10 West was not allowed to flow again until around 11:15 p.m.
