LSU's A.J. Andrews scored on an infield fly in the sixth inning to lead the Tigers to a 1-0 win over South Florida Saturday in the Women's College World Series.
The only two unseeded teams in the tournament, LSU (40-24) and South Florida (50-14) were locked in a pitcher's duel.
Hit by a pitch to start the sixth, Andrews moved to third after a long fly ball from Ashley Langoni bounced off center fielder Janine Richardson's glove at the warning track.
Allison Falcon lofted a fly ball two batters later forcing USF shortstop Kourtney Salvarola to the edge of the outfield grass.
Andrews tagged from third and thrust her left hand in to grab a corner of the plate on a wide slide around USF catcher Laura Fountain.
LSU senior Brittany Mack finished off her 15th career shutout, allowing two hits and advancing LSU to a Saturday night elimination game against top-seeded California.
