BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Last week LSU was on the outside looking in, my how things have changed after the Tigers went to Columbia, South Carolina, won the series and took home an SEC Title as well.

This week SEBaseball has LSU ranked as a No. 6 National Seed. Projections have LSU (42-14) hosting Miami (34-19), St. Louis (40-16) and Southeastern Louisiana (36-19).

Last week in our report, only Jeremy Mills of ESPN projected LSU as a National Seed. His projection last week was a No. 8 seeding, this week he has the Tigers up to No. 4. His projected Regional for LSU: Dallas Baptist (39-19), Tulane (37-18) and Kent State (37-17).

South Carolina (8) and Florida (5) join LSU as National Seeds in ESPN's projections.

Perfect Game projected LSU last week as an SEC at Large Team entering Regional Play. In today's update, LSU is the "TEAM OF THE DAY".

Perfect Game says, "What a weekend it was for the Tigers. They took a step back last weekend by dropping a tough home series to Vanderbilt. However, they responded in a big way this weekend with a road series win over South Carolina to win their first SEC regular season title since 2009. LSU starting pitcher Ryan Eades tossed five solid innings, while reliever Chris Cotton was key with three scoreless frames in the 3-2 triumph. As icing on the cake, LSU likely nailed down a national seed as well."

As for Baseball America: LSU is the new No. 2 after the winning the Southeastern Conference regular-season championship. The Tigers jumped seven spots after winning their series on the road at then-No. 2 South Carolina to finish the season with a 19-11 SEC record.

SEC Tournament play begins tomorrow with (4) Kentucky playing (9) Ole Miss and (6) Arkansas playing (7) Mississippi State. LSU will play the lower seed winner of those two games Wednesday.
