Delta Devils storm back to beat the Jags, 6-4

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Southern Jaguars were sitting pretty with a 4-0 lead over Mississippi Valley State in the eighth inning of the opening round of the SWAC Tournament, and then the bottom fell out for the Jags losing 6-4.

The Delta Devils stormed back to score four runs in the eighth to tie the game, and drove in the game winning run in the 9th inning. The Delta Devils scored all four runs in the eight with two out.

Joseph Germaine smacked a bases clearing double in to make it a 4-3 game. Trey Lacy stepped up and tied the game on a single to left. Valley took the 6-4 lead in the ninth when Germaine delivered a 2 RBI single to left. All four runs in the eighth were charged to Jesse Holiday. The loss was charged to Daniel Garcia, who gave up the game wining runs in the ninth.

The loss puts an end to the Jaguars' 16 game winning streak, and drops them into the losers' bracket of the SWAC Tournament. They will face Grambling Thursday morning at 9am in an elimination game.
