Bill has been actively involved in the fitness arena for
over thirty years – as an administrator, educator, author and as a designer of
innovative exercise and therapy equipment.
His academic focus was in fitness programming and his
training system stresses Functional Integration – an exercise program that
emphasizes functional fitness. As an athlete he was a four time Canadian
Powerlifting Champion and a collegiate football player.
His accomplishment as an athlete and coach have given him
unique insight into the field of sports conditioning. A number of his athletes
have reached the highest levels of performance in their sport including
Olympic, World and National Championships.
He worked as a strength and condition coach for several
Canadian National Teams and athletes including, the Women's Basketball Team
(1985-1987), Alpine Ski Team (1979-1983) and the Cycling Federation
(1980-1983). He also worked with the Toronto Argonaut Football Club (C.F.L.)
1979-1980, and the Detroit Red Wings Hockey Club (N.H.L.) 1977-1979.
From 1989 to 2000 he worked in the Rehab and Therapy arena
to help people 65 years and older with the quality of their life. He gained
national recognition for his unique training methods, treatment outcomes, and
exercise equipment design. His special area of interest during this time was in
Retirement and Skilled Nursing Facilities. As an administrator he specialized
in operating C.O.R.F.'s (Comprehensive Outpatient Rehab Facilities). He played
a key role in promoting the effectiveness of Restorative Care and quality of
life programs for residents in retirement communities.
He has produced Living Fit TV show since 1997 and continues
to develop and promote the importance of a balanced lifestyle in Body, Mind and
Spirit.
From 2000 to 2004 he develop a Lifestyle treatment model,
the Temple of Health, which included individualized exercise, nutrition and
relaxation training as part of Substance abuse treatment and recovery programs
while working in Belize, Central America.
He opened Health Focus Wellness and Fitness Center in 2004,
a medically affiliated fitness facility which provided specialty programs that
addressed members' specific needs and physical ability as part of their
continuum of care. He also founded health works, a corporate wellness program
that helps individuals improve their health and quality of life at work and at
home.
More recently, he has been promoting medial wellness in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana as the Rxcercise Program Director for Spectrum Fitness
and Medical Wellness Centers.
