GROSSE TETE, LA (WAFB) -

A traffic stop in Iberville Parish lands one man in jail after deputies found $1.5 million worth of cocaine in the car.

The traffic stop happened May 3, 2012. The 2011 Chevrolet Cobalt was stopped for speeding near Grosse Tete around 11:45 p.m.

The vehicle was driven by Christopher B. Wade. Deputies say he is a known drug violator from Houston, Tx.

During the traffic stop, deputies say Wade was overly nervous about the traffic stop and "showed signs of deception."

Deputies then searched the vehicle and found 15 kilograms of cocaine, all packaged in one kilogram amounts.

Wade was taken into custody and charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine in excess of 400 grams, and also charged with speeding. He was taken to the Iberville Parish Jail and booked.
