Tigers rip Tide in series opener, 10-2

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Mason Katz clubbed a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and Austin Nola highlighted a six-run fourth with a grand slam, as No.3 LSU (28-7, 9-4 SEC) ripped Alabama 10-2 Friday night in the SEC series opener at Alex Box Stadium.

The hitting heroics of Katz and Nola backed the pitching of Tigers' ace Kevin Gausman, who improved to 6-1 on the season by limiting Alabama (13-21, 4-9 SEC) to just 6 hits and 2 runs in 8 innings with 7 strikeouts.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Saturday night at 6:30.
