BRPD takes on BRFD in basketball to raise money

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - For the sixth year, the Baton Rouge Police Department took on the Baton Rouge Fire Department in a friendly, yet competitive game of basketball.

It's all for a good cause. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association.

Nine firefighters and 12 police officers played, with both department chiefs serving as the coaches.

"The police department and fire department work so closely together and we rely on one another. It only solidifies that partnership we have," said BRPD Chief Dewayne White.

In years past, the match up has raised thousands of dollars for the American Heart Association with bragging right on the line.

This year, BRFD took home those rights winning 85 to 82.

The American Heart Association walk is Saturday morning at 8 at LSU.
