Sewer project blocks main entrance to business

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The owner of Parties Start Here on Valley street just off Perkins Road is upset because of a sewer project that has blocked access to his business.

Owner Nelson Maddox tells 9News he didn't receive a notice of the road closure in advance. He says the closure has affected his business because the Irish Italian parade is this weekend and he sells beads.

East Baton Rouge Parish Public Works Director William Daniel tells 9News that they notified the fire, police, and EMS of the closure but they are not required to tell home or business owners.

Daniel says that is up to the contractor and it's in their contract. 9News talked to Grady Crawford Construction who is doing the work and they say they apologize to the business owner but they will be done in a couple of days.

The good news is that Parties Start Here can be accessed from the North side of Valley just off Baywell.
