BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - There is some good news for seafood lovers; the price of crawfish is coming down.
For the third consecutive week, the price of boiled and live crawfish has dropped from the season opening $3.50 per pound for live mudbugs.
Today, the price for live crawfish hovers around $2.75 per pound, and a dollar more for boiled.
Retailers say the supply is beginning to catch up with demand, and the size is improving.
"March is still pretty early," said Shane Billiot with LA Boilers. "I think it's going to get better and better. We're already at really good numbers. I think the price is going to go down even more, especially after Easter. And the size of the crawfish, we're going to have a surprise with the size coming up."
Billiot says he expects to see crawfish late into June this year.
