Man accused of hitting bar worker with 2x4 & taking cash

AMELIA, LA (WAFB) - A man is in jail on battery and burglary charges after sheriff's deputies said he hit a worker at a bar with a 2x4 and stole a bag of money early Saturday morning.

Jeremy Allemond, 30, of Patterson was arrested in connection with the incident, which happened at Tabu Bar on LA 182 in Amelia.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said the worker and witnesses at the bar told deputies people started banging on the back door around closing time.

According to witnesses, when the worker opened the door there were two men standing outside.

They said one of the men walked in and started fighting with the worker.

Reportedly Allemond hit the bar employee with a 2x4 board, grabbed a bank bag with cash in it and ran away.

Allemond was found at a home on Camille Street in Patterson (not his own) and arrested.

He was booked into the parish jail on the following charges:

  • Aggravated burglary
  • Aggravated battery
  • Criminal damage to property

Bond has not been set.
