Man dies after shooting during argument, arrest made

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said an argument between two men who lived in the same house led to a shooting Thursday morning which left one of them dead and the other facing murder charges.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Bobby Rowe, 57, was shot in the chest at their home on Sycamore Street in north Baton Rouge around 11 a.m.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Lonnie Charles Johnson Jr., 32, was arrested Thursday afternoon.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators said Johnson returned to the home after officers left the scene, but Rowe's relatives held him there until police went back and took him into custody.

Johnson's girlfriend was also arrested after getting rowdy with detectives while being questioned at the Violent Crimes Unit office.

Authorities said she attacked the detectives and damaged property that belongs to the state.

She was booked into the parish prison on the following charges:

  • Battery on a police officer
  • Resisting arrest
  • Simple criminal damage to property

Police added she also lived at the home with Rowe and Johnson.
