BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Sales tax numbers jumped almost seven percent in East Baton Rouge Parish in January.
City-parish sales taxes brought in $13.1 million in January 2012, up from $12.3 million in January 2011.
The total was the highest since 2009, when sales tax collections brought in $13.5 million, in part because of rebuilding following Hurricane Gustav.
Sales taxes in 2011 totaled $162.5 million, a four percent compared to 2010.
