LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) -

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum visited Louisiana on the same day he won the Mississippi and Alabama primaries.

Santorum was in Lafayette for a rally Tuesday night.

Because Super Tuesday did not show a clear Republican candidate, Santorum is still in the running and he is hoping to get all of the bayou state's 46 delegates by taking a stab at President Barack Obama.

"We are seeing gas prices at what are projected to be historic highs and yet, this president almost put this whole region out of business because of the extreme environment policies of this administration," Santorum said. "And, we wanted to be here in Lafayette to say to average folks who are struggling right now because of those energy prices [that] we will put this town and this region back to work, so you can go back to work and have a better quality of life."

Louisiana's primary is on Saturday, March 24. It will decide half of the state's 46 delegates.

A state convention in Shreveport on June 2 will decide the rest.
