BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A mother in East Baton Rouge says her 14-year-old special needs daughter was raped at school last month and has filed a lawsuit against the school board, the interim superintendent, the school principal and a teacher's aide.
Sheriff's Deputies say it happened at Tara High School on February 16. Quinton Adams, 18, is the student accused of the rape and was also a classmate of the girl.
The girl's mother told WAFB her daughter was missing after school and was found wandering the halls. The lawsuit says Adams lured the girl into the auditorium and raped her.
"He needs to stay in jail," said the victim's mother. "I don't think he needs to be around any children. I think he shouldn't have been at school."
Adams remains behind bars at the Parish jail, charged with forcible rape. The lawsuit mentions Adams was wearing a court ordered ankle bracelet when the alleged rape happened. The District Attorney's office says the ankle bracelet is from another rape charge from 2010.
The school system says they are aware of the lawsuit, but do not comment on pending litigation. They say Adams was recommended for expulsion.
