BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators don't yet know what caused a house fire early Thursday morning, but it damaged almost half of a Baton Rouge home.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department said it is believed the fire sparked under the carport of a home in the 10500 block of Allyson Street, which is just off Goodwood Boulevard near Broadmoor Senior High.
It started around 3 a.m.
Firefighters said the flames quickly spread from the carport into the attic and kitchen of the house.
They reported nearly half of the home was damaged by the fire and the rest had significant heat, smoke and water damage.
The two people inside at the time made it out safely.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
