ST. AMANT, LA (WAFB) - The road where two girls died in February will soon have additional warning signs.
DOTD announced Wednesday that more cautionary signs will be installed on Stringer Bridge Road in Ascension Parish.
In addition to the signs, DOTD will also be completing a Road Safety Assessment to come up with a long-term plan to make the road safer.
"Installing additional warning signs on this roadway is an interim solution that will increase safety until the RSA is complete," said DOTD Secretary Sherri H. LeBas.
The signs will be installed in the next two weeks. DOTD expects to have a report on safety improvements for the road finished by the end of April.
Faith Castilaw, 9, and Patience Lobell, 7, died last month when a car they were riding in plunged into Black Bayou. Their mother, Raelyn Encalade, and two other children were pulled from the bayou and survive.
