High school student arrested for having loaded gun, drugs in school

A 10th grader at McKinley High is behind bars tonight after deputies say he brought a gun to school.

A lawsuit targeting East Baton Rouge Mayor President Kip Holden is tossed out. Watch the full story tonight on 9News at 5.

Meanwhile, Baton Rouge Police are asking for help catching a murderer. They say someone shot Jeremy Stewart, 25, and left him for dead on Columbus Dunn Drive, in the Gus Young Neighborhood.

It started out as a project to replace the old wood pile bridge which wrapped up in the fall of 2011, but workers are back putting up road closed signs again. Starting tomorrow, Lovett Road in Central will be back under construction because DOTD says when they inspected the work, they found problems. WAFB's Tyana Williams will have a look at what's going on, tonight on 9News at 6.

A Contact 9 update involving the construction of Powerhouse Gym on South Sherwood Boulevard. At last check, members who signed up before the start of the year were still waiting on the gym to open and feared that it would not happen. As WAFB's Lauren Westbook shows us, now more people are coming forward and the clock keeps ticking; nearly two months after they were promised a grand opening.

Highs will climb back into the mid 70's today and should top out in the upper 70's by mid/late week. An approaching storm system will cause increased clouds and winds starting Tuesday, but rain should hold off until at least Thursday. The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 15 points to 12,963 Monday. The Standard & Poor's 500 dropped 5 points to 1,364. The Nasdaq composite index fell 26 to 2,950.
