5 students shot, 1killed during Chardon H.S. shooting rampage

Questions and heart ache tonight after a shooting spree at an Ohio high school. At last check, a suspect is in custody. It happened just before 7:30 this morning at Chardon high school - about 30 miles east of Cleveland. A 17 year old student walked into the school, pulled out a hand gun and started shooting. Five students were shot, one of them later died. Manuel Gallegus has the latest developments on 9News at 5.

Student brings gun to Glasgow Middle School

Closer to home - a Baton Rouge 8th grader is facing charges after authorities say he brought a loaded gun to school. It happened today at Glasgow Middle School. We're told the 15 year old was pulled from class and authorities found the gun in his pocket. We'll share the details.

Public defender suspended after drug arrest

After a public defender was arrested this weekend for being accused of having marijuana inside the lining of his jacket while going to see a client at Angola, he has taken leave. WAFB's Jim Shannon has the details. He also speaks to a former client of Hollingsworth who credits him for turning his life around. Hear that story on 9News at 6.

The Dow Jones industrial average narrowly missed 13,000. Again. The Dow spent much of Monday above 13,000. As the minutes of the trading day ticked away, it bounced just above and below the milestone. But a burst of selling in the final minutes drove the Dow to 12,982, down a point and a half on the day. The Dow broke through 13,000 several times last week but hasn't closed above that level since May 19, 2008. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose two points to close at 1,368. The Nasdaq composite index rose two points to close at 2,966.

Quiet "winter" weather ahead for south Louisiana for the final few days of February! Chance of rain today stands at 50-50 and mainly light rain, at that!
