Weekend violence overshadows celebrations

It has been a weekend of violence. Two people were killed and another is fighting for her life after a home invasion in Gonzales. A Mardi Gras parade in Plaquemine turned deadly and now police are looking for a killer. That, and another shooting at a condo complex in Baton Rouge that has seen its share of violence. Police responded to a shooting at the Brandywine Condominiums to find a 46-year-old man had been shot. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. More

Man shot to death at Mardi Gras parade

Police said a 27-year-old man was shot and killed at a parade in Plaquemine on Sunday. Detectives have identified a suspect and are looking for him. More

Violent break-in leaves 2 dead, 1 injured

Two men were killed and a woman was seriously injured in an apparent home invasion in Gonzales late Saturday night. A safe with gold coins inside was taken. More

Mother of raped teen says suspect needs to stay in jail

The mother of a 14-year-old high school student who was raped Thursday said the suspect lured her mentally handicapped daughter into the auditorium. More

Crime stats show slight rise in 2011

Major crimes in Baton Rouge went up slightly in 2011. However, violent crimes like murders, rapes and robberies dropped. Investigators also solved more crimes. More
