TUSCALOOSA, AL (WAFB) - The Lady Tigers hold off Alabama Crimson Tide to claim a 51-46 SEC victory Sunday evening at Foster Auditorium.
All-American LaSondra Barrett led the Tigers (17-8, 7-5 SEC) with a total of 21 points and drained a career-high tying 13 free throws. Barrett leads the SEC and ties for the third most free throws in LSU single-game history.
Alabama (11-15, 1-11 SEC) finished 16-of-60 from the field with Meghan Perkins and Shafontaye Myers scoring 10 points each.
The contest between the two teams got pretty heated with two technical fouls, one from each team. However, it didn't stop there. Alabama's Kyra Crosby was ejected in the second half with 3:35 remaining.
Barrett and Courtney Jones contributed 12 rebounds each to out-rebound Alabama by nine with a total of 46 but the Tigers failed to score behind the 3-point line. Alabama Crimson Tide aggressive with their 3-pointers scored a total of six points out of a possible 51.
LSU returns to action against Arkansas at 7 p.m. Thursday in Fayetteville.
