Officials say temp light going up at dangerous intersection

ADDIS, LA (WAFB) -

Officials have agreed to put a temporary traffic light at a dangerous intersection that has been the site of three deadly crashes in less than a year.

DOTD secretary Sherri LeBas announced the department will put in a temporary signal on LA 1 at Sugar Plantation Parkway in Addis while the J-turn is being constructed.

The J-turn project will be delayed so DOTD can study issue more.

The light is to be put up in the next few months.

Ann Browne, the sister of LSU head football coach Les Miles, was one of three people to die at the intersection in the past year.

Elise Jean Boudreaux died in a crash at the same spot on Dec. 17. Her mother, Thelma Bizette, was also in the car at the time. The 87-year-old held on for nearly two weeks after the accident before she passed away as well.
