BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Officials
at the Honeywell plant in Baton Rouge reported a leak Monday, but said there
was no indication of problems for the public.
They said
the facility experienced a hydrochloric acid leak just before noon.
Honeywell
said emergency procedures and systems were immediately activated.
Plant
officials said the leak was quickly contained and stopped.
They added
there were no reported injuries and no evidence of off-site impact.
Workers are
still trying to figure out what caused the leak and how much of the chemical
was released.
Operations
have been suspended at the site of the leak.
Officials
said a thorough investigation is planned.
