(FOX19) - The Obama Administration's Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, warned a Senate committee Tuesday about the new threat of Iran, that the country is now willing to step up aggression toward the west, and even willing to carry out terror attacks on U.S. soil.
Clapper testified, "The 2011 plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the United States shows that some Iranian officials -- probably including supreme leader Ali Khamenei -- have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived actions that threaten the regime."
So lets take a look at the body of evidence here.
If the Iranians are reportedly willing to conduct an attack in the United States, are they planning one?
No.
Clapper's testimony is that U.S. officials have seen no intelligence to indicate that Iran is actively plotting attacks on U.S. soil.
Then why would the Director of National Intelligence say Iran may be plotting an attack?
Because of what the Iranians have already plotted - last year's plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador.
