BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Trina Edwards says her husband, former governor Edwin Edwards, is feeling much better and should be going home soon.
In a jubilant public posting Monday on Facebook, she wrote, "He's up and around, giving the doctor's a hard time, and cutting up with all the nurses!"
She said earlier that Edwards had pneumonia and was taken by ambulance on Saturday to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where he was in the intensive care unit until Sunday evening.
Edwards is 84. He served four terms as governor, then served more than eight years in federal prison after being convicted of racketeering. He began three years on probation in early July, after he completed six months of home detention.
