BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The EBR School Board has zeroed in on one candidate for the next school superintendent.

Samuel King, of Rockdale, Georgia Public Schools, is the board's remaining candidate.

The East Baton Rouge School Board spent four and half hours arguing Wednesday evening.

Kelt Cooper from Texas and Tisha Edwards from Baltimore removed their names from consideration, while Herman Brister, Maria Pitre-Martin and Elliot Smalley were voted down.

Current Superintendent John Dilworth leaves at the end of June.  He refused to re-sign his contract here.

The board's action Wednesday is not final.
