Fans turn out to welcome LSU home

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A day that started off gloomy quickly brightened when dozens of fans showed up to welcome their team home from a tough loss in New Orleans.

"You know I love LSU. Have. Always will," said Kevin McManus. "Was looking forward to them winning, but you know what, they're still winners in my book."

They gave us 13 wins. You gotta give them credit for something," said Lori Johnson. "One loss, obviously it was the one we didn't want to lose. It was the one they didn't want to lose."

Sophomore defensive end Sam Montgomery's family knows how badly the Tigers wanted to win.  His mother, Debra, says she's proud of Sam and the guys and for the faithful fans for always standing behind them.

"I am very proud of them out here," said Debra. "You know these are the people that really make you play hard in the stands. The people that are behind you regardless."

There's a strong belief the loss - though big - is just a blip on the radar.

"I look at it like this, you know, next year's coming and Alabama better watch out," said McManus. "They all better watch out."

Alabama comes to Death Valley next season on November 3rd.

Montgomery says while they wait for next season to start, she's looking forward to spending some quality time with her son at home in South Carolina.
