NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Drew Brees passed for 389 yards and five touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints marched to a 45-17 blowout of the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers finished the season at 6-10.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Saints have set an NFL record for the most yards of offense in a season. The 2000 St. Louis Rams held the previous net yardage mark of 7,075. New Orleans eclipsed that in the second quarter of Sunday's season finale against the Carolina Panthers on a pass from Drew Brees to Robert Meachem, reaching 7,081.

SACRAMENTO, CA (AP) - Tyreke Evans had 27 points and Marcus Thornton scored 25 for the Sacramento Kings in a 96-80 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday night. Tervor Ariza had 17 points for the Hornets, who have dropped two straight after opening the season with a pair of victories.

POLLOCK, LA (AP) - The federal prison in Pollock was on lockdown after fights broke out on New Year's Eve among inmates at the facility in rural north Louisiana. Prison spokesman Steven Niles said the fighting broke out shortly before noon Saturday at the U.S. Penitentiary, the maximum-security segment of the federal prison complex.

UNDATED (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is feeling upbeat about Tuesday's Iowa caucuses, saying, "Our support is rallying and rising here." But, polls show Mitt Romney poised for a possible victory and Ron Paul not far behind.

DES MOINES, IA (AP) - GOP presidential candidates Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann are jumping ahead to South Carolina after the Iowa caucuses, instead of following the rest of the pack to New Hampshire. They both head to South Carolina Wednesday, but they do plan to take part in back-to-back weekend debates in the Granite State ahead of its Jan. 10 primary.

MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, WA (AP) - Authorities are looking for a gunman who shot and killed a ranger in Mount Rainier National Park Sunday. The Pierce County sheriff says Margaret Anderson was gunned down during a traffic stop. Officers are searching snowy and rugged terrain for Benjamin Colton Barnes, 24, an Iraq war veteran who the mother of his child says suffers from post-traumatic stress.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police in Los Angeles are hoping surveillance video taken at the scene of one car fire will lead to an arrest following a string of some 43 vehicle fires. They're calling the man seen in the video a person of interest and he's wanted for questioning. There's also a $60,000 reward.
