STATE NEWS

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Amid the euphoria of No. 1 LSU's win over second-ranked Alabama earlier this season, offensive coordinator and line coach Greg Studrawa was concerned about the Tigers' inability to run inside against the Crimson Tide. Studrawa and his linemen are motivated to change that going into the BCS title game rematch in New Orleans on Jan. 9.

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - LSU extended its winning streak to seven games with a 69-37 victory against Grambling State on Thursday night. LSU has held its opponent to fewer than 60 points in all seven victories.

METAIRIE, LA (AP) - Saints running back Pierre Thomas has been fined $12,500 for a uniform violation and a touchdown celebration in which he placed a bow on a football and gave it to a fan. NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL NEWS

DES MOINES, IA (AP) - Most of the Republican presidential candidates are in Iowa, trying to win over undecided voters ahead of Tuesday's caucuses. Rick Santorum stopped in Coralville Thursday, urging voters to put conservative principles above everything else. A Rick Perry TV ad criticizes Santorum and three other rivals, saying "The fox guarding the henhouse is like asking a congressman to fix Washington: bad idea."

HONOLULU (AP) - President Barack Obama heads to Cleveland the day after the Iowa caucuses. The White House says the president will focus mostly on the economy during his trip. Obama won Ohio in 2008, but the state has been hard-hit economically during the president's term.

BANGKOK (AP) - Officials say flooding in north and central Thailand has killed at least 780 people. The country's worst floods in half a century also have destroyed millions of tons of crops and badly damaged industrial production. The World Bank estimates that it'll cost about $25 billion for Thailand to recover.
