BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Ralston Turner scored 22 points and LSU extended its winning streak to five games while handing No. 10 Marquette its first loss of the season, 67-59 on Monday night. Turner hit two clutch 3-pointers in the final 4 minutes to give the Tigers the lead and added two free throws to make it 60-54 with 1:19 to go. Justin Hamilton then closed out a 13-point performance by making seven free throws in the last 53 seconds to ensure the Tigers (8-3) held off a comeback attempt by the Golden Eagles (10-1).

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA (AP) - The Saints will try to clinch the division title and the Falcons will try to lock down a playoff spot when the teams meet on Monday night. New Orleans (11-3) has a two-game lead over Atlanta (9-5) in the NFC South. The Saints, who have clinched a playoff berth, also would bolster their plans for a home game in the playoffs by beating the Falcons in New Orleans. The Saints have a six-game winning streak. Atlanta has won two straight.

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal is in Iowa this week to help Texas Gov. Rick Perry's presidential campaign in the last push before the first-in-the-nation Jan. 3 caucuses. Jindal spokesman Frank Collins says the Louisiana governor will be campaigning Tuesday and Wednesday in Iowa for Perry, who is seeking the GOP presidential nomination. Jindal is returning to Baton Rouge on Wednesday.

ALEXANDRIA, LA (AP) - A pawn shop with more than 100,000 artifacts - making it one of the largest pawn shops in the South - is the subject of a new reality television show on the History Channel. The Town Talk reports Silver Dollar Pawn and Jewelry in Alexandria will be featured on the show "Cajun Pawn Stars," a spin-off of the History Channel's hit show "Pawn Stars." It will premiere at 9 p.m. on Jan. 8.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The House and the Senate are moving toward a Christmas week standoff on extending the payroll tax cut. House Republicans, who want the tax cut extended for a full year, will look for a compromise Tuesday, after flatly rejecting the two-month extension approved by the Senate last week.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (AP) - A deadly storm is unleashing snow and fierce winds across the Great Plains, a few days before the official start of winter. In the Texas Panhandle, there've been nearly 100 rescues of people stuck on Interstate 40 from Amarillo to New Mexico. The storm also is blamed for a prison van accident in eastern Colorado that killed a guard and an inmate.

NEW YORK (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney poked fun at rival Newt Gingrich and at himself when he appeared on Monday night's "Late Show With David Letterman," delivering the "Top Ten Things Mitt Romney Would Like to Say to the American People." No. 10 was, "Isn't it time for a president who looks like a 1970s game show host?" And No. 2 was, "Newt Gingrich? Really?"

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) - Streams of sobbing North Koreans are offering flowers and their last respects to their longtime ruler Kim Jong Il, who died of a heart attack Saturday. State media says Kim's third son and successor, Kim Jong Un, visited his father's coffin with top military and Workers' Party officials. A state funeral will be held Dec. 28.
