SPRINGHILL, LA (KSLA) -

The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Springhill Police Department have arrested a reserve officer with the Springhill Police Department for malfeasance in office.

On November 9, 2011, the Springhill Police Chief, Will Lynd, contacted Louisiana State Police Region 2 Detectives and requested a joint investigation on an allegation of improper conduct on the part of a Springhill Police Department Reserve Officer.

The investigation revealed that on October 14, 2011, Springhill Reserve Police Officer Charles Blanks reportedly had sexual relations with a female prisoner while transporting the female to the Webster Parish prison.

On November 14, 2011 LSP Detectives and the Springhill Police Department arrested Blanks and he was booked at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for malfeasance in office. Blanks was released from the correctional center after posting a $2,000 bond.

Chief Lynd says Blanks is no longer with the police department.

KSLA News 12 has confirmed that Blanks is a pastor at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Springhill.

We spoke with a man who says he's Chairman of the Board at the church.

"I am surprised to hear this. I was finna go up there in my chair to see when I heard he was in jail," says Robert Grigsby.

Chief Lynd says he hopes Blanks' arrest doesn't hurt the trust the people of Springhill have in the police department.
