BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said the mother of a 15-year-old boy turned her son in to them Friday night in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old earlier in the day.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said the suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and juvenile in possession of a firearm.

His name was not released by officials.

Deputies said the suspected shooter and Daylon Wheeler, the victim, had an ongoing dispute.

Investigators said after the shooting the suspect took some marijuana from Wheeler and ran away.

Wheeler was gunned down in the 7000 block of North Buttonwood Drive just before 4 p.m.
