LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - University of Louisville participated in the Remembrance Day National Roll Call on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11.
The nationwide grass-roots effort honors American service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan during the past decade and follows the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
The Remembrance Day National was coordinated by volunteers and administrators at U of L.
Members of the Louisville community joined volunteers in reading the names of the 6,200-plus casualties of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF), now called Operation New Dawn.
Reading of the names on campus lasted nearly eight hours to complete.
They announced the names in chronological order.
