BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The death of a one-year-old baby has opened several cases of apparent child neglect in North Baton Rouge.

Police believe the alleged abuse happened at a house on Erie Street.

Linda Brown and her neighbors woke up Sunday to a shocking scene at the house. Brown says police were knocking on her door at 6 a.m. asking for a favor.

"They had three other kids in there and they asked if I could watch them because they had something going on across the street," Brown said.

Baton Rouge Police Corporal Ljean Mckneely says when officers went into the house they found a dead baby covered in bruises. Detectives say the child's mother waited hours before she called for help.

"The mother of the child found out the child was having some type of difficulty breathing around 3 a.m. and we didn't get a call until 6 a.m.," Cpl. Mckneely said.

Officers say they also found three other young children at the house who appeared to have been neglected.

"Two of the small children around the age of one, they had a diaper rash so bad where it was bleeding," Mckneely said.

Furthermore, Mckneely says when officers scanned the house for evidence they found electronics that had been reported stolen and a lot of money.

Kierra Golman, Randy Parker and Brandon Tate were arrested.

Parker has served time for attempted second degree murder and assault. He was also arrested last week on a burglary charge.

Golman and Tate had been previously booked on drug charges.

Brown says she knew the three pretty well, but had no idea what was going on behind closed doors.

"I'm shocked about the whole thing. I don't know what to say. I loved those little kids. I really did," Brown said.

Golman, Parker and Tate are charged with possessing stolen things.

Additional charges are pending autopsy results.

The three children are in state protective custody.
