LIVINGSTON, LA (WAFB) -
Things are expected to heat up in one of the big races in Livingston Parish. There will be a runoff for parish president.
Incumbent Mike Grimmer took home 45 percent of the vote. He needed to top the 50 percent mark to avoid a runoff.
He'll now go head-to-head with Layton Ricks who got 40 percent of the vote.
"I try to be a nice guy," Grimmer said. "If they want to punch, it's time to punch back. We are going to fight, not let the 'good ole boys' take over."
Grimmer disputed claims the ongoing matter of debris collection following Hurricane Gustav played a factor.
"The debris is an issue. Roads are an issue. The same factors as the other guys and we are going to smoke it out," Grimmer added.
