CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Local leaders of the YMCA have agreed to meet with a small representative group from the community to further discuss the closure of two 'Y' branches.
The 'Y' announced last month they plan to close the Williams and Melrose branches on Aug. 22 as part of a realignment.
Councilman Wendell Young held a forum last week, but no one from the 'Y' attended.
Young said in a statement that 'Y' leaders have now agreed to meet with a group to discuss a solution.
"I am proud to say that YMCA leaders have agreed to work with a small representative group from the community, to further discuss ways in which there is a amenable solution," said Young. "I am very pleased there is now an opportunity for the community to be involved in the outcome of this matter. I would like to thank the YMCA board and director for a open transparent and productive discussion."
