2011 Independence Weekend Events

Friday July 1


Hammond: Take it to the Tracks community block party. 6:30-9:30pm, 100 block of North Cate St., Downtown Hammond. Outdoor market, classic cars, food, music, shopping. City of Hammond Fireworks display after dark.

Saturday July 2

East Feliciana

Clinton: Red White and Blue Fest. 8am-8pm, Main St. (Courthouse Square). Fireworks display at 8pm.


Springfield: Firework celebration. 9pm, Fayard Field, Hwy. 1037 Springfield

Walker: "Honoring those who Serve" exhibit at the Walker Museum. Open every Saturday in July.

Walker: City Fest at Sidney Hutchinson Park. 8am CityFest 5k Run and Walk. 3pm rides, games, food, hot air balloons. No alcohol permitted. Free.

Sunday July 3


Donaldsonville: Fireworks on the River. 5-10pm, Crescent Park. Music at 7pm, Fireworks at 9:30pm.


Lake Verret: Fireworks on the Lake, near Attakapas Landing. Starts at 8:30pm.

Pointe Coupee

Batchelor: Fireworks display at Old River Landing at 9 p.m.

New Roads: River Rhythmz Fest at Morrison Parkway from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Five bands will perform. Parking is free. Food and beverages will be sold.

Monday July 4

East Baton Rouge

Baker: Fireworks display at Miracle Place Church. 2080 Main St. At dark.

Baton Rouge: Tour the USS Kidd

Baton Rouge: The BASF Freedom Mile road race. 8am. River Rd. at River Center.

Baton Rouge: Star Spangled Celebration. Vendor booths open at noon, music begins at 3pm. 6-6:30pm "Air Raid Baton Rouge" LA National Guard flyover and mock WWII attack at the USS Kidd. Fireworks over the Mississippi at 9pm. No ice chests, bbq pits, tents or pets.

Baton Rouge: All Star Lanes – Baton Rouge (formally Don Carter's) is offering a day of free bowling on July 4th, 2011. Retired and active Military of all US branches and Louisiana state and local police, fire and emergency medical responders will receive unlimited games and shoe rental for themselves and one guest. All Star Lanes will be open from 9 AM – 1 AM on this day. A valid id is required to receive the free games

West Baton Rouge

Port Allen: 5th Annual 4th Fest. 4pm-10:30pm, Port Allen levee. Children's activities and food vendors; Wayne Toups at 5pm, Foret Tradition at 7:30pm.
