Suspects report murder after police chase ends in crash

PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) -

Two men who crashed a car while fleeing from authorities in Louisiana early Friday reported the murder of one woman and injuring of another in Florida.

According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers assisted deputies from the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office during the pursuit around 2 a.m.

It ended in Iberville Parish when the car crashed along Interstate 10.

According to the Port Orange Police Department in Port Orange, FL, the two men in the car told troopers with LSP the car belonged to a lady who had been killed in Port Orange.

They reportedly said another woman at the home was severely injured.

Troopers then contacted Port Orange officers and asked them to visit the address the suspects mentioned.

The responding officers said they knocked on the door at the home and no one answered.

However, after hearing a noise from upstairs, they broke in to investigate.

Police said they found a dead woman in her 50s in an upstairs bedroom.

In another bedroom, a woman in her 20s was located. She was badly injured but conscious.

The second woman was rushed to the hospital for surgery.

Her condition is unknown.

Investigators said the two suspects were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple charges.

Officials did not give the specific charges.

One of the suspects was taken to the hospital and the other remains in custody.

No names have been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
