SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Sprague Street once was home to a half dozen late Victorian bungalows. But now only one remains. While preservation efforts have been delayed, Shreveport officials say they are committed to restoring the home. City Councilman Jeff Everson says that the city plans to rehabilitate the 1890s cottage near Oakland Cemetery and move it to city-owned property on Elvis Presley Boulevard.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - More than 200 Mossville and Brentwood residents with property close to the Sasol chemical company's Westlake facility have agreed to sell their property to the company as part of a voluntary relocation plan. Sasol announced the Voluntary Property Purchase program last year.

HAMMOND, La. (AP) - The City Council has given its support to proposals to connect University Avenue with Pride Drive, creating only the second east-west corridor through the Tangipahoa Parish city. The council has authorized the city's grants department to apply for a $1.2 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant for the project.

GRETNA, La. (AP) - Organizers say a new charter elementary school proposed in Jefferson Parish would focus on college preparation and literacy. Laureate Academy would operate on the parish's west bank and would open in August 2015. The proposal was submitted in March.
