2nd Annual Celebrity/Sorta Celebrity Softball Game

We are very proud to announce that the 2nd annual "Celebrity/Sorta Celebrity Softball Game" will take place Friday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. here in Baton Rouge. An impressive list of names, from various backgrounds, has been assembled. Click here to see the lineup The game will be played at the brand new, sparkling Cypress Mounds Complex at the intersection of Burbank and Gardere. Admission to the contest is just a $10 donation at the door, with all proceeds going Support Our War Heroes" (supportourwarheroes.net) and "The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana" (bluestarmothers.net). Both are non-profit, 501-C charities that do wonderful work in our communities supporting our brave Louisiana military. This evening, as well as the entire "Red, Rock & Blue Weekend" is proudly presented by our title sponsors  Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group, Lake After Hours and Baton Rouge Physical Therapy Lake.

The "Celebrity/Sorta Celebrity Game" will also be televised on a tape-delay basis by KPBN "The Pelican" and aired in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans markets. Participants will meet and greet fans, take pictures and sign autographs.

The softball game is hardly the only attraction on this evening. Local, popular band Winbourne will perform before and after the contest on The Budweiser Stage. There will also be raffle drawings throughout the evening and a special live auction after the game that will include celebrity uniforms. The US Army will also have a strong presence, with a rock climbing wall and special station where you can have your very own, personalized dog tags made.

Also, it's likely several other big names will be added to the card between now and the game on July 8. Stay tuned!

This event kicks off "The Red, Rock & Blue Weekend" with a bang, as a 50-team softball-kick ball tournament and a massive, hard rock, charity show at The Varsity Theatre follows over the next 48 hours.
