"Swamp People" to appear at celebrity softball game

Troy Landry Troy Landry
Bruce Mitchell Bruce Mitchell

Troy Landry and Bruce Mitchell of the smash-hit, reality TV show "Swamp People" will appear at the 2nd annual "Celebrity/Sorta Celebrity Softball Game" Friday night, July 8 at Cypress Mounds complex in Baton Rouge.

The game is put on by WAFB-TV sportscaster Jacques Doucet and raises money for two, non-profit 501-c Louisiana military charities....Support Our War Heroes and The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana.

Landry and Mitchell have gone from somewhat unknown, simple, humble Cajuns...to nationally known, simple, humble Cajuns. Season two of "Swamp People" debuted to nearly 4 million viewers on The History Channel in March, and continues to grow in popularity.

Landry's trademark "Choot 'Em!" command and Mitchell's "Jump On Him!" bark have become trademark vernacular amongst fans and even nonfans of the show.

A complete list of celebrities/sorta celebrities for the game will be released soon. Jacques is likewise continuing to accept team entries for his softball/kick ball tournament July 8-10, also at Cypress Mounds....but spots are quickly running out.

These events, as well as the huge, charity, hard rock show at The Varsity Theatre Saturday, July 9 are all part of Doucet's "Red, Rock & Blue Weekend"...which raises money for the two above mentioned charities.

For questions about entering a team, sponsorship or anything else....please e-mail Jacques at jdoucet@wafb.com.
