MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) - Folks in Morgan City tell 9 News they are used to dealing with flooding, but do admit this year is ramped up quite a bit.
Crew have been working around the clock sandbagging and putting up Hesco Baskets to block any water coming in from the Morganza Spillway.
Keep track of the back waters - local lakes and bayous - because this is where a lot of that water will be coming. If you head downtown you'll see the Atchafalaya and those massive seawalls, but the threat is not there: it's those backwater areas.
"It's a little scary," says Logan Fromenthal with the St. Mary Parish Council. "I have to be honest with you. We're not afraid, but we certainly are concerned."
Taking a look around Morgan City, it seems those Hesco Baskets are the most popular levee, but you'll still find sandbags and makeshift walls, in some cases.
