Assumption Parish monitors river closely

NAPOLEONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Officials in Assumption Parish are still watching water levels carefully and are getting prepared for further rising.

The Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said elevation data on levee tops and some roads is being collected to determine the effects of the predictions being made.

Officials added they expect to see the water rise another 2.5 inches Monday.

Sand and sandbags have been placed in certain areas:

LA 70 near Derrick St.

Rue de Kajun Rd.

Gumbo St.

LA 70 & N. Curtis St.

End of North Belle River Rd.

LA 996 & LA 1001 (Church)

LA 401 & Bayou Crab Rd.

North Bay Road

South Bay Road

Shell Beach Road near Chile's

Behind Halter Marine Building

LA 70 near Family St.

LA 402 Turnaround (Hollywoods)

LA 1012 (Boat Launch Parking Lot)

Officials urge everyone to take the necessary precautions, especially those who live in low-lying areas.
