The Mary Bird Perkins Merrill Lynch Open officially got things underway at the Santa Maria Golf Club in Baton Rouge Monday afternoon with a press conference. They introduced some of the golfers that will take part in the tournament , which will start Wednesday. It is 21st year of the Mary Bird Perkins Tournament and ninth year it has been apart of the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series. Part of the proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The Tournament has raised $1.4 million since its existence. Over 100 golfers are expected to be a part of the field. A junior golf clinic will be conducted for free Friday starting at 4:00p.m. at Santa Maria.
