The Louisiana Legislature will discuss mandating state owned buildings to include specialized "lactation rooms" for breast-feeding moms. House Bill #313 states that toilet stalls are not acceptable places for new moms to feed their infants.
According to the bill, the rooms must include a lockable door, a work surface and chair, a utility sink, storage for cleaning supplies, adequate heating/cooling, and electrical outlets. The bill would not include public buildings built by individual parishes or city school boards.
