NEW ORLEANS (NOLA.COM) - Hurricane Katrina brought on many unexpected problems, but the 9th Ward of New Orleans never dreamed of this one. One of the hardest hit areas is now dealing with stray chickens.
The local SPCA chapter dispatches officers weekly to catch the feral chickens. They say most neighbors complain of the ear-piercing squawks.
People living there suspect the chickens escaped backyard coops after the storm and have just multiplied.
